While I’m Busy…

Until I finish this latest draft of my novel (I’m close. So very close), I’ll be posting videos of writerly and other artistic things. At least as I perceive them.  Hope you enjoy them until regularly scheduled programming resumes.

To kick things off, here is Neal Stephenson talking about SF/Fantasy Actors.

Coffee Break No. 13 – Fantasy in Classic Rock

I’m sure this has been done to death, but I’m listing my five faves, thus dating myself. I’m old and I’m proud.

In the Court of the Crimson King – King Crimson

Just read the lyrics and tell me you don’t want to write the novel based on this song.

The Battle of Evermore – Led Zeppelin

Ring wraiths, Avalon, dark lords, swords — duh.

Lucky Man – Emerson, Lake and Palmer

In fairness, Greg Lake was in King Crimson before he spawned ELP, but still. It’s awesome!

Dream Weaver – Gary Wright

Astral planes, trains, and highways of fantasy – a sci-fi/fantasy mash-up of delights.

Tales of Brave Ulysses – Cream

Like many great fantasy stories, Cream base their tale on ancient mythology. Plus, there’s a little steampunk thrown in. And you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun. Brilliant!

Tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers, indeed.

These are five of my faves. Are there any songs, recent or not-so-recent that you dig for their fantasy vibe?
